Influential Exponential! – Gamer Lounge Episode

17 09 2008

So I’m sure many of you are wondering, “Why is there a crashed Ferrari here?”  The answer is for two reasons!  Numero Uno, Castle Crashers is a topic on this particular episode.  Numero Dos, is because The Gamer Lounge has gone under a sort of crash, if you will, due to school.  Because of this, the last three (I think that’s right) episodes have been only me.  However, Larry and I should be recording together again this weekend.  As Larry would say, “Woot!”  😀

But enough of that, let’s talk about what’s on this episode!  Castle Crashers, Tropic Thunder, Star Wars Clone Wars, Orange Box, Watchmen, new iPods, Genius and so much more!  Reviews, Previews, and thoughts and rants.  As always, this week’s episode is worth a listen!

Castle Crashers Review Delayed

5 09 2008

So like a good little reviewer, I knew I should finish the game before I finialized my thoughts about it. However, I am royally getting my ass handed to me in the Lava World level of the game! I have an idea now of how to get past it, but a save before you fight the dragon would sure be nice! 🙂

On another note, I’m actually going to see Tropic Thunder tonight. I’ll finally have a movie to talk about!

Update: I finally got past lava world!  I’ve finished the ice world as well, so I’m about done with the game.  Hopefully I can finish by tomorrow or the day after and get a review up!

Please Unleash Me Now… – Demo Roundup!

3 09 2008

Finally, a batch of demos worth playing is on Xbox LIVE. By that I mean…not sports games! 🙂 First off, before we get any further, let me just say Castle Crashers is a must play. I’m going to write a review for that soon, but even the demo can show you how sweet the game is. It’s hard to believe that puppy is only an Arcade game.

So we’ve heard about it for a year, I’ve put posts about it on the blog, and talked about it on the podcast. Finally, The Force Unleashed demo is here! Except…I’m not that impressed. Read the rest of this entry »

A Message From Luke!

25 08 2008

So this definitely isn’t the Gamer Lounge’s longest or, for that matter, best episode and I don’t want to sully our reputation. So what do I do? Put out “A Message from Luke!” 😀 As you can probably tell from the title, I’m alone in this episode as well. However, that does not mean it’s a waste of your time! I cover Assassin’s Creed, Castle Crashers, Fighting Games, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Knights of the Old Republic, and Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps War!

Timed Buttons Presses Unleashed!

15 08 2008

As you may know, I am super excited about the upcoming Star Wars game The Force Unleashed. However, after hearing today that to kill bosses you need to successfully complete a series of timed button presses, I’m not so sure anymore. If this is true, hopefully it isn’t a make or break deal. If I have to start the whole level over again because I didn’t hit one button right, (download the Bourne Conspiracy demo if you want to experience that! 🙂 ) that would suck!

Apparently the boss fights are relatively slow going as well. I don’t mind this so much though considering in the movies the fights were always long and drawn out as well. But again, the button pressing sounds stupid. I guess I would have to try it first before I could really say anything, but the thought of bringing down a giant rancor with my upgraded force lightning sounds way cooler to me!

On a final note Xbox Magazine rated it a 7.5, which isn’t great, but still pretty good.  We shall see I guess.

Actually, on another even more final note, they OXM gave Castle Crashers an 8.5!  Nice!  For once this issue has reviews super early!  Now if only the demos weren’t always a few months old…
