#17 – Gamer Lounge Episode – E3 and More!

8 06 2009

It has been FOREVER since we’ve put out a new episode, but now we finally did.  Considering the fact that tonight’s episode went so well, the chances of us staying consistent are really good now.  Since we had 6 months worth of stuff to cover, this was an extra long show. Topics included E3, UP, and pretty much everything else that’s in the below mountain of tags. At a little over an hour and a half, the show should keep you busy until next Sunday!  🙂

#13 – Gamer Lounge Episode – Touchy Apprentices

23 09 2008

It’s finally here!  A new episode featuring both Larry and I!  If I do say so myself, this is our best episode yet.  We wrote out some notes to follow during the show, things flow smoothly, and there were no sound hiccups that I could find.

Some topics are Spore: Origins and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the iPod touch/iPhone, free MMO subscription models, Diablo 3 before Starcraft 2, Wrath of the Lich King release date, Warhammer Online, Smallville, Marble Blast Ultra, Star Wars TV series, Larry’s new mac, and more!

Did I mention we actually had a little bit of viewer/listener input this time?  I read one of the comments on the blog dealing with the free subscription model.  That could be you next time!  So leave a comment or send an email to gamerloungepodcast@gmail.com

Timed Buttons Presses Unleashed!

15 08 2008

As you may know, I am super excited about the upcoming Star Wars game The Force Unleashed. However, after hearing today that to kill bosses you need to successfully complete a series of timed button presses, I’m not so sure anymore. If this is true, hopefully it isn’t a make or break deal. If I have to start the whole level over again because I didn’t hit one button right, (download the Bourne Conspiracy demo if you want to experience that! 🙂 ) that would suck!

Apparently the boss fights are relatively slow going as well. I don’t mind this so much though considering in the movies the fights were always long and drawn out as well. But again, the button pressing sounds stupid. I guess I would have to try it first before I could really say anything, but the thought of bringing down a giant rancor with my upgraded force lightning sounds way cooler to me!

On a final note Xbox Magazine rated it a 7.5, which isn’t great, but still pretty good.  We shall see I guess.

Actually, on another even more final note, they OXM gave Castle Crashers an 8.5!  Nice!  For once this issue has reviews super early!  Now if only the demos weren’t always a few months old…

I Finally Beat Half-Life 2!

18 07 2008

Want to see the best gun in the game? Then click the above picture to make it bigger! 🙂 So after slowly making progress through the game since Christmas, I finally beat the game. Since I picked up Orange Box, Episode 1 and 2 are soon to follow on the game beatin’ schedule. After playing through this game, I really must say it easily lives up to all the high ratings it received. Even today after playing beautiful games like Gears of War, this game still looks and plays great on any decent PC out there.

Let’s take a look back, shall we? This game was officially released on November 16, 2004. (Almost four years ago already!) Then the Xbox 360 came out in 2005 around the same time Half-Life 2 did. The important difference? HL2 was out on the PC looking great a whole year before the 360 came out. While I do own a Xbox 360, it’s always good to look back sometimes and see how much better the PC was and always will be. If you can afford the upgrades that is…

Far Cry 2 Is a Coming to Consoles!

31 05 2008

Far Cry on the PC is easily one of my favorite video games I’ve every played, and even today I would give it an A if I rated it. What? You’ve never played it? Go HERE. You can buy the game from Amazon for only $5.30. Seriously, it will probably be the best $5.30 you’ve ever spent. Think your PC is too crappy to take it on? Check that OVER HERE. (No this isn’t a virus, but yes it will ask you to run a harmless control.)

You might be thinking “Far Cry already came to the 360!” and you would be right, there was a Xbox 360 version. However, it was nothing like THIS. (The site’s in Spanish but the video is in English. YouTube just didn’t have the quality to do this video justice.) While I must admit the PS3 version looks a little better graphically to me, I’m still very excited for this game to get into my hands. If this is the first time you’ve seen the game I’d highly recommend you head over to http://farcry2.com and watch the trailer and read up about the game.
